Fun Days

I saw that little man was crashing quickly today. So we had an early lunch and then while I talked to my mom on the phone Hunter curled up on the living room rug and fell asleep!! He just never falls asleep anywhere but his bed or the car seat so I found it pretty damn cute.

After he woke up from his nap we played outside. It was a gorgeous day at only -5C with a hint of wind. Perfect weather for playing outside. We walked to a friends place for a visit and then continued around the block. He screamed when I had to take him inside! He is an outside kinda boy I guess!

Stuck in the snow!! He needed a wee bit of help to get himself upright.

Thanks Kennie and Jackie!

Today was a great mail day!!

From Kennie I got more burned tv seasons. I now have Dexter and Greys Anatomy to entertain me over the winter. Thanks Kennie!!

And Jackie did a story for some CBC thingy called Spark. They ran a contest and I was one of the winners! So they emailed me and said I won a grocery bag! They also thanked me for being listener of spark.... well I didn't have the heart to say the CBC usually annoys me. But of course I had to listen to Jackie and Jen talking, so I tuned in.

My awesome new grocery bag!

And my adorable boy today. He is attempting to escape the baby gate by sliding underneath. What a kid.

Planning a year at a time

Matt just had to submit his holiday requests for the next year. Nothing like planning in advance! I love it!

The year is looking pretty damn good:
- 3'ish weeks off around due date of Skeletor
- 4 months of parental leave
- Christmas off!

Now here's hoping it all works out as planned. And there is a good chance Matt will be working Faro after the baby is born. Hurray! Having Matt around will be wonderful. He will start his parental leave mid July. That way we get the fall off for hunting. We have to have our priorities you know! We are going to take a month'ish to travel back to the NWT, AB and BC to visit friends and family. Then a month in the fall for a trip back to Nova Scotia and fingers crossed a bit of time in NFLD to visit friends.

The next year is going to be great!

And it's a.....

Well. I would love to tell you, but Skeletor decided to keep his/her legs crossed for us. The ultrasound technician tried all of his tricks, but Skeletor was always one step ahead.

So I guess we will find out in another 20 weeks or so!

Get your bets in now!

I am absolutely sure there is a penis in my uterus. The hubby thinks otherwise!

What do you think?

Ultrasound is tomorrow at 12:30!

And the reason we call this fetus Skeletor. I know, it is hard to see. But tilt your head to your left. See it now? The super creepy skull staring back at you with the black eye sockets? This was Hunter at his ultrasound. I am sure Skeletor will look just as creepy tomorrow.

What a cutie!

I took Hunter outside last week when it was -32 for some nice frosty winter pictures! I asked a few friends to help edit the picture for me because it was very blue thanks to the snow and the sky.

Here is one of my favorites!

Strange Pregnancy Cravings

During my first pregnancy all I wanted was gummies. Gummy bears, gummy worms, winegums, etc. If it was gummy- I wanted it. I went about 2 months where I could not eat meat and would throw up if Matt cooked bacon or moose. And then there was the day that I wanted steak and gummies at the same time. Tasted great going down, not so good on the way back up 1/2 an hour later. I got a big "I told you so!" from my hubby on that one.

Now this pregnancy all I want is meat! Gummies, well I'll take 'em or leave 'em. And my biggest craving? Side Pork!! And of course I want it with syrup. So that is what is in the frying pan right now.

Things that are making me yak- spaghetti squash and salad. I wanted to yak when I looked at the squash in SuperStore. No clue why. I normally love the stuff. And the salad thing really baffles me too. I can eat all of the parts of salad, except the lettuce. And that is what we would usually eat for lunch are big salads.

Pregnancy is odd. And I believe I just finished 19 weeks! Ultrasound on Tuesday.

I love TINA!

A parcel arrived in the mail today from the amazing Tina!

It was loaded with clothes for Hunter, including 5 toques! And being the amazing woman that she is, she also sent me chocolate.

And especially for my Hubby- season 1 of Ice Road Truckers.

Tina- you rock! Thanks so much for the parcel.

No brain while pregnant.

I am losing it. Yep, my brains are turning to mush and I am only 18 weeks pregnant. Skeletor is stealing all of my smarts.

Yesterday I found the hot chocolate powder in the fridge.

It can only go downhill from there.

And I had to break out the maternity pants last week. Oh do I feel sexy wearing pants that stretch up so high I could tuck my boobs into them. Or is it that my boobs are hanging lower.... scary thoughts. Sorry everyone, hope that doesn't leave you with nightmares tonight.

Bootie Buying!

Hey! Thanks everyone who is interested in buying booties!

Matt has them with him over in Ross River right now. He will be back on Thursday and I will get pictures and prices up then.

And Meagan from Inuvik! I am sure it was your friend. I can't find her card to remember her number. I think it is in the bottom of one of the rubbermaids. But she took the traditional arts program there in Inuvik! Her work was amazing.

Spruce Bog Bootie BOMB!!

Yep. It was a bomb. Remember the dream I blogged about where I didn't sell anything and there were a thousand tables? Well that was actually very very close to the real thing!!

I sold a whopping $150 worth of stuff. Ouch! There was a record turn out this year, but unless you were selling baked goods or photocards, there wasn't much else moving. Most peoples tables were as full as mine at the end. People just weren't up to spending more than $50 on an item. I saw lots of small items being sold, but that was about it!

But I have to tell you I had a heap of fun at the craft fair and in Whitehorse anyways!

Highlights:
- this woman next to me who had this moving metal fish on top of a fridge and she sold forks that were shaped into bugs. She was a riot and kept me entertained the whole time.
- meeting Carol the YukonChatterBug blogger!!
- now try to follow this one: my moms best friends sister-in-law tracked me down! Awesome to meet her
- making a great connection to another woman who makes beautiful moccasins and mittens. We want to meet to trade sewing secrets!
- seeing the amazing stuff people had to sell at the craft fair. Oh the money I would have spent had I made any!
- getting my washing machine from sears finally!!
- eating McDonalds, Timmies, and Chinese food
- doing a bunch of Christmas shopping
- seeing two of the items my hubby has gotten me for Christmas!! ahaha hard to keep it a secret when you all ride home in one vehicle.
- having a boy who slept both to and from Whitehorse and was a dream child the rest of the time.
- not yakking once the whole weekend and I even forgot to take my medication last night!
- great conversations with random people at the craft fair. I talked to some really interesting folks

So really, the trip wasn't a waste. We did a heap of shopping and got the winter tires put on. And I think one of my hubby's coworkers wants to buy 10 pairs of booties. Well she has a lot to choose from now!

So if anyone wants to buy a pair of booties just let me know!! I have a great selection!

Soooo Excited!!!!

I am so excited about this weekend! I have my 30 pairs of booties all ready to go. Tonight I am filling in the labels for each of them. And along with the booties, I have 2 fur hats, and 15 stockings. Now, of course I want to sell them all and go home with my $3000. But I would be happy with half of that.

Thanks to this wonderful blog I have a few more orders to do after I get back on the weekend. I think I am going to be sewing my heart out right until Christmas.

And something else on the excitement front: my mom is flying up for a visit! Just a short one though. Nov. 29th to December 5th, but it is enough time to put her to work here I guess!! I wonder if she will wake up at 5am with Tulugak? I kind of doubt it...

So wish me luck at the craft fair this weekend and I hope to see some of you there!

Weird Dreams

I think I am known for my crazy-ass dreams, but lately they are getting even weirder.

Last night I dreamed that I was running away from vampires. But the vampires weren't even that scary, more like kids dressed up in bad Halloween outfits. And to kill them, I had this special gun that would shoot dry spaghetti at them. Very specifically it was McDonalds brand dried spaghetti (didn't know you could get spaghetti from McDonalds...) It was very odd.

And I think I am getting nervous about this big craft fair on the weekend. I had a dream this week where I showed up very unprepared to the event. There were over 1000 tables and no one would come to mine. So I started yelling loudly to tell everyone what I had for sale, but it just scared people off even more.

Sooooo...

In other news- I have 29 pairs of booties made. One more pair to go! And I think I have about 15 of the northern stockings done up. I just have to sew leather ties on them tonight. Only a few small things left to do like find a table cloth, write on the labels, and stuff the booties full of paper. I should be ready for Saturday.

And I have gotten my appetite back. So far today I have eaten:
- 2 pieces of french toast
- 1/2 cup strawberries
- handful goldfish crackers
- 2 pieces of cheese
- huge bowl of chili
- two more pieces of bread
- huge piece of sponge cake that I made yesterday
So now I am feeling like a pig, but glad I have the pregnancy excuse to blame the eating on.

Pregnancy is going along great! Very little yakking now and I think I am going to try going down to just 1 diclectin a day. I can now feel Skeletor moving around in there. And I find it just as creepy as the first pregnancy. Sorry, but I am not in love with the feeling of a little creature growing in me. I really do find it pretty creepy.

The boy no longer walks anywhere. He runs. And his favorite word is NO! Used very well in context and with a lot of force behind it. And we are definitely not up for parent of the year award. The other day Matt and I were down the hallway moving some cords when Matt went to check on Hunter who was very very quiet... Matt found him ON the kitchen table, actually the EDGE of the table, with a pair of sewing SCISSORS in his hands, attempting to ATTACK the computer. We suck big time. Should we even be allowed to make more???

Well I think that is about it! You are all up to date with the excitement around here!

Fun Stuff

Reading his truck board book with dad. We hide this one often because we get so sick of reading it!

Deiss- this one is definitely for you! heheh I stuck this star to his head at playgroup. He had it on almost all day!

My kid loves these things!! I don't even know what to call them, but he runs around squealing with it in his hand!

Absolutely pooped at playgroup!

Playing with the bouncy balls are the highlight of playgroup for this kid! I guess we should buy him his very own for Christmas!

Pictures for Everyone

Here is the Christmas Cactus picture for Jen. Sorry it is sideways! And Carole: I have no idea how I got them to bloom. I have three and they are all blooming. It is my first time having them. Perhaps neglect?? I am pretty bad remembering to water them!

My rabbit fur booties!! These would probably fit 4-6 months or so. Pretty damn cute. All hand stitched. Not sure how much to charge for them at the craft fair:

My bootie army is starting to take shape!

For Stacy and Heather- the matching dog sledding booties:

I bought some fabric that didn't work well for the booties. So I have made some Northern Stockings out of them! I will try and sell them at the craft fair too. I just have to make leather ties to hang them with.

And all of my wonderful fur coats from Indigo!!

I LOVE INDIGO!

A couple of weeks ago I asked Fawn in Whitehorse to look at a fur coat for me. I cut them up to trim out the booties I make for kids. Well lovely Indigo Sweetwater was reading and sent me a treat.

Today my husband picked up a rubbermaid from the greyhound sent by Indigo all the way from Kamloops. Inside, it was packed with fur coats!!!!! They are all perfect for what I do. There is hundreds (actually more I bet) of dollars worth of coats in there. There was even this beaver shawl thing that I am in love with and have been wearing ever since I opened the container. I asked to pay her. Nope. She wouldn't have any of that. She likes to barter instead, so she will be getting a lovely pair of booties later this month.

I have never met Indigo in person. She is another one of the wonderful people I have "met" by keeping this blog running. She has sent us a parcel in the past just full of sewing goodies and toys for Hunter. Indigo travels the north (and the world) and I hope that we will be able to meet in person soon.

Thank you Indigo. I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness so much!

Phone Adventures with Sears

Sears: How may I help you today?

Me: I would like to order an item and have it sent as a gift to a friend.

Sears: Blah, visa #, blah blah blah item number

Me: Blah blah blah

Sears: Okay, we will be shipping that to you at a cost of blah blah blah

Me: No. I would like that shipped to the Sears store in Dawson Creek BC.

Sears: Okay, you can pick it up at such and such address in Dawson City.

Me: No. I want that sent to Dawson Creek BC. And it is for a friend. I won't be picking it up.

Sears: Okay, here is the store. You can pick it up on Nov. 15th.

Me: NO! I am having it shipped to a friend! I live in another territory. It is a gift.

Sears: Oh. Well what is their name and address blah blah blah.

Me: Blah blah blah.

Sears: Okay, it will be ready for pick up on Nov 15th. You must go to that store and show them your id and credit card.

Me: NO! I live 2000km away! I am sending it as a gift for a friend. How am I supposed to show my visa???

Sears: Oh. Okay. Well it will be ready on Nov 15th for your friend to pick up.

Me: click.

Christmas Cactus Allergy??

Does anyone out there have an allergy to Christmas Cacti when they are in bloom?

Today, my cacti started to bloom and I have been sneezing like mad all afternoon and evening. I went out of the house for a ladies craft night and didn't sneeze there once. Now I am home and sneezing again.

Or am I just a nut and losing it completely?

For Auntie Wenda

So I have been told via my mother that my Auntie Wenda says I need to suck it up, quit whining about yakking and just post more pictures of the boy!

Alright. I guess I can do that!

ps. We miss you Auntie Wenda! Can't wait to see you next summer!

Better!

The boy slept until 10 after 6 this morning!! Much better than this weekend. His naps are right on time now too.

I hope I can keep it like this. Before 6 in the morning is just too early.

Sunday, November 2, 2008

I hate the time change.

For everyone else it means sleeping in an extra hour. For me, it means a baby who woke up at quarter to 4 today instead of quarter to 5.

It is going to be a long day.
